King Snake

King snakes are hardy, docile serpents native to North America, prized for their beautiful patterns and ease of care. These powerful constrictors are known for their ability to eat other snakes, including venomous species. They make excellent captives for beginners due to their adaptable nature and straightforward husbandry requirements.

Habitat

40-gallon long enclosure minimum for adults, with secure ventilated lid. Provide hiding spots on both warm and cool sides, water bowl large enough for soaking, and substrate suitable for burrowing such as aspen shavings or cypress mulch.

Temperature

Maintain a thermal gradient using under-tank heating on one third of the enclosure. Monitor with digital thermometers and regulate with thermostat.
